Several people were arrested in Liverpool in an ongoing proactive policing operation to target criminals and protect those living in the area.
At around 10am yesterday, Thursday 7 March, Liverpool Targeted Policing team attended Bardsay Road in Walton following a report of a fight with men armed with weapons in the street.
When officers arrived at the scene the suspects made off. Following a search of the area officers stop searched two men on Ismay Street. The men, aged 27 years and 26 years, from Toxteth were arrested on suspicion of affray.
The 27-year-old man was found to be in possession of cannabis and white powder, suspected to be cocaine. He was further arrested on suspicion of possession of Class A and B drugs.
Officers carried out CCTV and house-to-house enquiries in the area and following enquiries a 38-year-old man from Walton was arrested on suspicion affray and possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence.
A search of an address was conducted, and officers found white powder the 38-year-old man was further arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs. A handgun, machine gun, air pistol and sniper rifle were also seized from the property.
Further arrests in connection with the disturbance were also made with two men aged 21 and 22 years from Walton arrested on suspicion of public order offences.
The five suspects have been bailed pending further enquiries.
While in the area officers noticed the driver of a white Ford Fiesta acting suspiciously on Milman Road and a 43-year-old woman from Walton was arrested on suspicion of drug driving. A CS cannister was found in the vehicle and the suspect was further arrested on suspicion possession of a Section 5 firearm.
Later in evening just before 7pm officers were on patrol on Green Lane in Tuebrook and sighted two men in a car acting suspicious. One man was stopped searched when he came out of a shop and officers found 180 wraps of suspected crack cocaine and 117 wraps of suspected heroin.
A 22-year-old man (of no fixed address) was arrested on suspicion with intent to supply Class A drugs. He is still in police custody to be questioned.
Officers searched the car and found a quantity of cash and several wraps of suspected crack cocaine. A 25-year-old man from Kirkby, was arrested on suspicion with intent to supply Class A drugs. He is still in police custody to be questioned.
Inspector Ivan Martin, Targeted Policing for Liverpool, said: “Officers arrested a number of people which disrupted criminality where quantities of Class A and B drugs were seized and weapons including firearms have been taken off our streets and prevented from causing serious harm or violence.
“We are committed to taking weapons and drugs off our streets and, rest assured, if you tell us about any suspected possession or offences we will investigate.
“Merseyside Police pro-actively investigates serious organised crime including the use of guns and the supply and distribution of drugs on Merseyside and is relentless in its pursuit of offenders.
“Information from the public is vital if we are to breakdown the organised crime groups who bring misery to our streets.”
