We are appealing for information following a serious incident in Kirkby today, Tuesday 28 May.
At around 4.50pm we received a report that a man had been found with serious injuries at the junction of East Lancashire Road and Moorgate Road.
Emergency services attended and the man was taken to hospital.
An investigation is underway to identify what happened to the man and how he got his injuries.
Road closures are in place while emergency services deal with the incident. We ask that drivers avoid the area and find an alternative route and thank you for your patience as we deal with this incident.
We are appealing for witnesses, and for any CCTV or dash camera footage which may have captured the incident or the male pedestrian walking on Moorgate Road.
He is a white male in his 50s and was wearing blue jeans and a light coloured top.
Sergeant Phil Everett of the Roads policing department said: “We have now launched an investigation into the incident, along with colleagues from Investigations, and would urge anyone who witnessed the incident, or has CCTV and dashcam footage to please contact us.
“Every piece information is vitally important to our investigation to establish what happened.”
Anyone who witnessed the incident or has any information is asked to call our Matrix Roads Policing Unit on (0151) 777 5747, email [email protected], or DM @MerPolCC on Twitter quoting reference 639 of 28 May.
