We have arrested a man on suspicion of assault following an incident in Birkenhead town centre on Saturday, 11 May.
At around 7.30pm, the ambulance service informed officers of a man in his 30s being found with a head injury outside the Charing Cross Hotel pub on Grange Road West. The victim was taken to hospital for treatment and has since been discharged.
Following enquiries, a 53-year-old man from Birkenhead was arrested on suspicion of Section 18 wounding and taken into custody. He has since been conditionally bailed pending further enquiries.
Detective Inspector Andrew Schofield said: "Although a man has been arrested, we are still keen to speak to those people who were in or near to the pub and saw this incident unfold.
"We want to establish the full circumstances and obtain any evidence, so come forward and share with us what you know so we can take action."
