Detectives have arrested two men in connection with a firearms incident in Wirral last Saturday, 11th May.
At around 5.05pm, a report was received of two men on an electric bike being sighted in Holt Road, Tranmere. It is believed one of the men was in possession of a firearm, described as having the appearance of a pistol. The firearm was not fired and an extensive investigation is underway.
Last night, Wednesday 15th May, officers arrested two males in the Heswall area who we believe are linked to this offence.
A 19-year-old man from New Ferry was arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm with intent to cause injury; possession with intent to supply Class A drugs; and serious assault in connection with a separate offence in April.
A 19-year-old man from Eastham was arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm with intent to cause injury; possession with intent to supply Class A drugs; and serious assault in connection with a separate offence in April.
Both have been taken to police stations for questioning.
Detective Chief Inspector Phil Atkinson, from our specialist Firearms Investigation Team, said: “Two men are now in custody and will be questioned. But in the meantime, our investigation remains very much ongoing. We are still keen to hear from anyone who saw this incident or saw anyone acting suspiciously in the area of Holt Road at around 5.05pm on Saturday 11th May.
“Likewise, if you live locally or were passing in the area, please check your dashcam, CCTV or home doorbell devices and let us know directly, or anonymously through Crimestoppers. No matter how small a detail, what you know could be vital so let us make that assessment.”
