We are releasing CCTV footage of two men who we are trying to identify because we believe they could have information about an injury shooting in Tuebrook.
At around 10.10pm on Monday 28 October, we received a report that a 27-year-old man had self-presented at hospital with a gunshot wound to his lower leg. He has since been discharged from hospital.
It’s believed the targeted attack happened 30 minutes earlier when an unknown male fired at the man as he got out of a private hire a taxi on Denman Drive.
An investigation is ongoing and we are now releasing CCTV footage showing two men walking along nearby Prescot Road at 10.07pm. We believe these two men could have information that will assist this investigation.
Detective Chief Inspector Phil Atkinson, from the Firearms Investigation Team, said: “Although the quality of the CCTV footage isn’t ideal, we hope it could jog someone’s memory who may have been in the area that night and saw these men. If you happen to recognise either man, please come forward as a matter of urgency.
“To open fire at someone in such a reckless manner could clearly have had much more serious if not fatal consequences.
“We would ask for the public’s help in coming forward with any bit of information they have so we can find the people responsible.
“Information from the public is vital if we are to breakdown the organised crime groups who bring misery to our streets and I would appeal to anyone who has information to come forward.”
Anyone with information is asked to DM @MerPolCC or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 quoting reference 24000917613.
