Detectives in Wirral are appealing for information following two linked arsons in the Prenton/Oxton area yesterday, Wednesday 13 November.
At around 7.10am, MFRS reported that a car had been found on fire in Durley Drive, Prenton.
At 9pm, MFRS reported that a car was on fire on Euston Grove, Oxton. In both cases, significant damage was caused but no injuries.
CCTV, forensic and witness enquiries are ongoing in relation to both incidents.
Detective Inspector Andrew Schofield said: “We believe that these incidents may be linked, due to graffiti being found on the vehicles. At this early stage, we are keeping an open mind as to the motive, and will continue to support the victims as our investigation continues. We’re also aware and investigating two incidents where vehicles have been damaged by similar graffiti.
“The recklessness of setting vehicles alight so close to residential premises is clear to see, and thankfully no injuries were caused. We are determined to find those responsible as soon as possible. If you have any information, live or were passing by the locations, please check your CCTV, dashcam or other devices and come forward.”
Local Policing Inspector Sharon Robinson said: “We understand the concern that such incidents have caused and officers will be in the area to gather information and provide reassurance to residents. We are taking these incidents extremely seriously and will do all we can to target and put before the courts those involved.”
