We can confirm that a man has sadly died following a collision in Wavertree on Friday 22 November.
At around 7.15pm, we received a report that a Toyota Prius had collided with a pedestrian at the junction of Wellington Road and Rathbone Road.
Emergency services attended the scene and the pedestrian, a 71-year-old man, was taken to hospital with serious injuries. He sadly died from his injuries today, Friday 29 November.
The driver of the Toyota stopped at the scene and is assisting us with our ongoing inquiries into this incident.
Detective Sergeant Simon Duffy from the Matrix Serious Collision Investigation Unit said: “Our thoughts are with this man’s family at this sad time and they are being supported by a specially trained officer.
"An investigation into the circumstances of this collision are ongoing and would appeal to anyone, who we haven’t already spoken to and who was in the area on the evening of Friday 22 November, who may have witnessed this collision or the moments leading up to the incident, to please get in touch. Getting answers for this man’s family is a priority and we value any help that can be provided”.
