We are appealing for information following a serious assault in Toxteth this evening, Sunday 13 October.
At around 6.30pm, it was reported that a 14-year-old boy had been walking on Lodge Lane, near the junction with Coltart Street, when he was assaulted by a group of males.
Emergency services attended the scene and the victim was taken to hospital with a serious injury to his head consistent with a bladed weapon being used. He is currently in a serious but stable condition.
It’s believed that the suspects fled the area in a vehicle and inquiries are ongoing to locate them.
A cordon remains in place at the scene and officers are in the area to carry out the initial stages of the investigation.
Detective Inspector Rob Pritchard said: “We are in the early stages of investigating this incident and we are appealing for anyone with information to please get in touch.
“This was a shocking attack on a teenage boy who has suffered a serious head injury and we are determined to find the people responsible.
“The incident happened on a busy road and would have been witnessed by other people. If you saw what happened or have any information, please get in touch as a matter of urgency.
“If you live in the area and have CCTV footage, or you were driving past and have dashcam, please review the footage in case you captured anything.
“Officers remain in the area to carry out the initial stages of the investigation, which includes CCTV and house-to-house inquiries. They are also there to act as reassurance to the local community.”
