We have issued CCTV images of four people we want to speak to following a racially aggravated assault in Liverpool city centre.
At around 10pm on Wednesday 26 June a man in his 30s was walking along Slater Street in Liverpool city centre with a friend when he was approached by a group of males.
The males shouted a racial slur at the man before punching, kicking and hitting him with a glass bottle. The victim suffered an injury to his ear.
The males then launched several glass bottles at the man and his friend before leaving the scene.
An investigation is underway and extensive witness and CCTV enquiries have been carried out.
A 29-year-old man from Wirral has been arrested on suspicion of racially/religiously aggravated assault occasioning actual bodily harm and bailed pending further enquiries.
We have issued images of four people we would like to speak to as we believe they could have information which is vital to our investigation.
Detective Inspector Jay Halpin said: “This was an unprovoked attack on a man who was minding his own business walking down the street with a friend.
“Hate crime will never be tolerated on Merseyside, and we understand the distress and upset that being targeted in this way causes.
