A male from Huyton has been arrested following a reported robbery of a scrambler bike which was being sold on social media.
At around 12.30am this morning, Friday 25 October, we responded to reports that three people had travelled from Coventry to Huyton to sell a scrambler bike in an organised meeting.
It was further reported that they parked at the arranged meeting point on Liverpool Road when they accosted by three males who allegedly produced a firearm, machete, and a knife and the scrambler bike was stolen.
A 23-year-old man from Coventry was stabbed in the arm and was taken to hospital where he is receiving treatment. The two other victims were not injured during the incident.
Armed response officers attended an address and arrested a 16-year-old male on suspicion of robbery, Section 18 assault wounding with intent and possession of a controlled Class B drug cannabis. He is in police custody to be questioned.
An investigation is underway with CCTV and witness enquiries being carried out in the local area.
Detective Inspector Richie Shillito said: “We are in the very early stages of investigating this incident and would appeal for anyone with information to come forward.
“Although a male has been arrested, we are still appealing for anyone who witnessed the assault to please get in touch. If you live or were driving past the area and have CCTV or dashcam footage, it could vital to our enquiries.”
Detective Inspector Shillito added: “Merseyside Police is committed to preventing serious violence to reduce the devastating impact it has on individuals, families, and the wider community.
“Every knife surrendered is one less potentially dangerous weapon on the streets of Merseyside
“Through targeted uniformed patrols, the execution of warrants, stop searches and land searches, we are making a real difference. This is supported by our ongoing work with partners on prevention initiatives which address the root causes of crime and violence in our communities.”
