We have arrested a man and seized a stolen scrambler bike and drugs following an incident in Kirkby on Tuesday 22 October.
At around 3pm, officers on patrol in Southdene sighted a scrambler bike making across the dual carriageway on County Road, which reportedly caused other vehicles to slam on to avoid a collision.
The rider was seen to dismount on Thistley Hey Road, and he was detained nearby.
Following the further search of an address, a large quantity of cannabis and other paraphernalia was seized (above). The bike was confirmed as having been stolen from Bradford, West Yorkshire and will be reunited with the owner.
The 21-year-old man from Southdene was arrested on suspicion of Dangerous driving; Driving while disqualified; Driving with no insurance; Theft of a motor vehicle; and Possession with intent to supply cannabis.
He has been released under investigation pending further enquiries.
Knowsley Local Policing Chief Inspector Chris Ruane said: “This was an excellent piece of police work which has removed a risk from our roads. Nobody wants to be confronted with a dangerously ridden bike and we know all too well the harm, distress and annoyance that the illegal and anti-social use of scrambler bikes cause to our communities and their use by those involved in serious criminality.
“Although we employ many tactics to target those who ride recklessly on our roads, the safest way is to identify and remove suspected stolen and illegally ridden vehicles before they are used. Key to such success is information provided by those communities who feel the effects of this behaviour.
“If you have any information about the theft or storage of scrambler bikes, electric bikes or any vehicles, contact @MerPolCC, 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111, and we will do the rest.”
