A man has been jailed after CCTV captured him throwing missiles at officers during the violent disorder which took place in Liverpool city centre.
Aras Magedi, 24 years, of Kensington, appeared at Liverpool Crown Court yesterday, Thursday 24 October, after pleading guilty to violent disorder.
Detectives charged him on 21 September for his role in the disorder, which took place in Liverpool city centre on Saturday 3 August.
CCTV footage captured Magedi throwing multiple missiles at officers which he took from a display in Liverpool One, and he was clearly at the forefront of a large group of people.
He then fled the scene from police as officers moved into the location.
Yesterday Magedi was sentenced to one year, nine months in prison.
Detective Chief Inspector Tony Roberts said: “Magedi has been jailed for the role that he played in the large-scale violent disorder which took place in Liverpool city centre and resulted in numerous police officers being injured and property being damaged.
“This latest sentencing brings the total number to 159 years and 11 months in prison for the 75 people that have been sentenced so far.
"In addition, we have made 139 arrests and charged 94 people, and there will be many more to come.
“We continue to identify more people who attended the disorder in Merseyside and we will not stop until we’ve put everyone we possibly can before the courts.”
