We have arrested three men as part of an ongoing investigation into a non-injury shooting in Walton last month.
It was reported at around 11.55pm on Saturday 7 September that windows to a house on Helena Road had been smashed and the door set on fire.
It was further reported that loud bangs were heard outside.
Police attended the scene and although there were no injuries, there was evidence found at the scene of shots being fired.
Since the incident, extensive inquiries have been carried out and yesterday, Wednesday 16 October, three men were arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life/enable another to do so. They are:
- A 23-year-old man from Huyton
- A 58-year-old man from Huyton
- A 25-year-old man from Liverpool
They have all been conditionally bailed pending further inquiries.
It brings the total number of arrests following this incident to four after a 27-year-old man from Huyton was arrested last month on suspicion of possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life. He was bailed pending further inquiries.
Detective Chief Inspector Phil Atkinson, who leads our Firearms Investigation Team (FIT), said: “The investigation into this incident is progressing and we have now arrested three more men on suspicion of firearms offences.
“Although no one was injured in this incident, it happened in a residential area and would have caused alarm for those who live in the area. It was extremely reckless and could have had far worse consequences.
“I want the community to be assured that we are determined to find anyone who is willing to use a firearm in Merseyside and bring them to justice. We are relentless in our pursuit of anyone involved in serious organised crime.
“Despite making these arrests, we are still appealing for anyone with information to come forward. Any information from the public is vital and if you know where guns are being stored, I urge you to contact us or Crimestoppers, anonymously on 0800 555 111."
