We are appealing for witnesses following a serious road collision in Old Swan today, Saturday 7 September.
At around 11.55am we received a report of a collision involving a skip hire truck and a male pedestrian at the junction of St Oswald’s Street and Prescot Road.
The pedestrian, a man in his 70s, was taken to hospital with serious injuries which are not life threatening.
Road closures are in place, and we ask motorists to avoid the area and find an alternative route.
Officers are appealing for witness and drivers who were in the vicinity at that time to come forward to help with the investigation.
Chief Inspector Andy Hughes said “This collision happened at busy location and time of day and will have been witnessed by members of the public. I appeal to anyone who saw anything and who has yet to speak with my team, to please get in touch.
“In addition, I would ask local businesses to check your dashcam footage and CCTV to see if the collision has been capture The area would have been busy with traffic and as such I would also motorists who were in the area at the time who has dashcam fitted to their vehicles to urgently review it. Any help we receive, no matter how insignificant it may seem can assist our investigation.”
If you witnessed the incident or have any CCTV, dashcam or other footage, please contact call us on (0151) 777 5747, email: [email protected], or via @MerPolCC or ‘Merseyside Police Contact Centre’ on Facebook, with reference 349 of 7 September.
