Detectives are appealing for information following a stabbing in Toxteth yesterday evening (Thursday 26 September).
At around 7pm, we received a report that a man was outside Abi Minimart on Warwick Street when he was approached by two men. He then ran into the shop and while doing so was stabbed in the leg.
The suspects left on a Sur-Ron electric bike and stole the victim’s electric Giant bike, making off towards Caryl Street and Upper Mann Street.
The victim, a man in his 20s, was taken to hospital for treatment to a small laceration and later discharged.
He is not co-operating with police enquiries.
An investigation is underway and officers will remain in the area to carry out forensic, CCTV, house-to-house and witness enquiries.
Detective Inspector Mike Fletcher said: “Enquiries are in the early stages to establish the circumstances of what has taken place.
“Thankfully the victim wasn’t seriously injured from this reckless attack and is recovering from his injury.
“This would have been a busy time of the evening, and I would appeal to anyone who was in the area at around 7pm onwards and saw what happened to please contact us.
“I would also ask people who were in the area to check dashcam or CCTV footage just in case they may have captured something which may be vital to the case.”
Det Insp Fletcher added: “Reducing knife crime in Merseyside is a priority all year round.
“Our officers are committed to removing anyone who stores, carries and uses weapons through proactive use of stop and search powers, open land searches, warrants and education work alongside partners.
“We continue to seek out those involved in knife crime, exploiting young and vulnerable people to carry weapons or to become involved in gangs.”
