A man has been arrested on suspicion of drugs and weapons offences after a car was stopped in Stockbridge Village on Thursday (19 September).
At around 8pm a grey BMW X3 was approached by officers on patrol on Altfinch Close, where a front seat passenger was seen to kick away a snap bag of what was later established to be ketamine.
A further snap bag of ketamine was found in the passenger’s underwear and during a search of the car, officers seized a machete with a serrated edge, drugs paraphernalia, mobile phones and nitrous oxide canisters.
A 27-year-old man from Huyton was arrested on suspicion of possession of a controlled drug (Class B), possession with intent to supply of a controlled drug (Class C) and possession of an offensive weapon.
Chief Inspector Chris Ruane said: “Criminals involved in the supply of illegal drugs bring nothing but misery to our communities.
“It is a trade that depends on violence and intimidation to exist, often relying on the use of weapons including knives and firearms.
“Drug dealers exploit some of the most vulnerable people in our communities and simply do not care about the violent and distressing consequences of their actions.
“We conduct warrants, stop checks and land searches often as a result of information provided by the public. We count on their support to tell us where drug dealing is happening and where weapons are being stored, so if you have any information that might help us identify those involved, please contact us and we will do the rest.”
Anyone with any information about drugs or any other organised criminal activity is asked to call Merseyside Police on 101, DM us @MerPolCC or call Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
