Our Matrix Roads Policing Unit is appealing for information after a serious fail to stop collision in Netherton earlier this month.
At around 6.50pm on Sunday 8 September, officers were called to the junction of St Nicholas Drive and Fleetwoods Lane to reports of an unknown vehicle in collision with a pedestrian.
The pedestrian, a man in his 50s, was taken to hospital and found to have sustained a fractured hip. CCTV and witness enquiries continue.
The driver made off and we are yet to trace them or the vehicle, which has variously been described as a black Ford Focus, black Vauxhall Astra or a black Vauxhall Corsa.
Matrix Roads Policing Constable Lauren Smith said: "The pedestrian sustained serious injuries which have required surgery, and continues to recover. We're keen to speak with anyone who saw this collision or was passing and captured the incident itself, or a vehicle matching this description.
"The driver may not have realised the seriousness of this incident at the time, and it is vital we find this vehicle and speak to the driver. We think the car was travelling from the direction of Edge Lane/Gorsey Lane, turned right from Fleetwoods Lane onto St Nicholas Drive, where the collision happened. We believe it was then driven onto the St Nicholas Drive estate."
