Three men were arrested yesterday, Monday 23 September, following separate reports of domestic abuse in Liverpool.
In the first incident officers attended an address in Walton to a report a woman had been struck in the face and the offender was refusing to leave. The victim sustained swelling to the face.
A 33-year-old man from Walton was arrested on suspicion of assault and is still in police custody to be questioned.
In the second incident, we received a report of an argument inside a property in Wavertree.
Officers attended and arrested a 35-year-old man from Wavertree on suspicion of on two counts of assault. He is still in police custody to be questioned.
The third arrest was in relation to a report of domestic assault at an address in Toxteth last month where a man grabbed a woman’s mobile phone and assaulted her.
Yesterday officers arrested a 27-year-old man from Toxteth on suspicion of intentional strangulation, false imprisonment, and theft. He is still in police custody to be questioned.
Detective Inspector Jay Halpin said: “We are relentless in our pursuit of offenders and are determined to put them before the courts so that they pay for the crime committed and protect vulnerable people.
“Merseyside Police is determined to break that cycle of abuse where perpetrators continue to commit crimes against their victim thinking that every time they do, they are less likely to get caught.
“I would really like to urge anyone who may be a victim of domestic abuse, or know someone who is a victim, to please reach out for help. We take reports of domestic abuse extremely seriously, and we are here to listen and support you and bring perpetrators to justice.”
