An investigation is underway following a serious road traffic collision in Woolton this afternoon (Saturday, 20 September).
Emergency services were called at 12.38pm to a report that a green Peugeot had collided with traffic lights on Menlove Avenue at the junction with Beaconsfield Road. Officers attended the scene and it is believed that there was a collision involving the Peugeot and a black Ford Zetec that resulted in the collision with the traffic lights.
The female passenger of the Peugeot, who is in her eighties, has been taken to hospital and her condition is described as serious.
The drivers of both cars have stopped at the scene.
Sgt Matt Bernard from the Roads Policing Unit, said: "We are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident to come forward. We are also appealing to anyone who has CCTV, or doorbell, footage that captured the incident to come forward, we are particularly interested in talking to any motorists who were in the area who may have dashcam footage of the incident.
