Detectives have charged two men with firearms offences following a pre-planned firearms operation in Liverpool on Friday 13 September.
Armed police officers safely stopped a black Renault Clio in Drake Road in Fazakerley at around 9.25pm. During the stop, trained armed police officers shot out the tyres in a controlled manner. Nobody was injured. Two men in the car were detained and arrested on suspicion of Possession of a s1 firearm.
Liam MacDonald, 37, of Waresley Crescent, Walton, was charged with Possessing a firearm when prohibited for life; and Possession of a firearm of length less than 30 cm/60cm.
Stephen Price, 31, of Hylton Road, Allerton, was charged with Possessing a firearm when prohibited for life; and Possession of a firearm of length less than 30 cm/60cm.
Both men have been remanded in custody to appear at Wirral Adult Remand Court this morning, Monday 16 September.
The investigation is part of the Merseyside Organised Crime Partnership (OCP), a partnership with the National Crime Agency (NCA) which was introduced in 2021, to protect the public from organised crime groups.
