We have arrested two men and a woman on suspicion of drugs offences.
Matrix officers attended at a house in Clubmoor yesterday, Monday 9 September, to speak to the occupants. Upon arrival there was a strong smell of cannabis and the officers made attempts to detain two men.
A struggle ensued during which an officer was reportedly pushed down the stairs and one of the men, who was undressed, made off from the property.
The man later handed himself in at a police station. The police officer was not injured.
During a search of the house a large quantity of cannabis was recovered.
A 21-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of escaping lawful custody, possession with intent to supply Class B drugs and possession of criminal property.
A 41-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of common assault of an emergency worker, obstructing a constable, possession with intent to supply Class B drugs and possession of criminal property.
A 41-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class B drugs and possession of criminal property.
All three have been released under investigation pending further enquiries.
Matrix disruption Inspector Ian Peacock said: “We have recovered a huge quantity of drugs destined for our streets and further afield.
“Drug dealing and organised crime is hugely damaging to our communities, often involving intimidation, violence and creating fear where criminals involved have no thought for anyone other than themselves.
“I would ask anyone who has any information about who is supplying or selling drugs in their area to contact us so we can continue to take action.”
