Detectives have made another arrest and a 16-year-old has been sentenced in connection with violent disorder that took place in Liverpool during the summer.
A 31-year-old from St Helens was arrested Thursday 19 December on suspicion of violent disorder in Liverpool, where he is suspected to have smashed bricks and thrown them at police. He has been bailed while enquiries continue.
A 16-year-old boy from Runcorn was sentenced yesterday, 19 December, at Liverpool Youth Court for violent disorder and burglary in Liverpool. The teenager was found guilty of throwing missiles at police and going into Clayton Square, Liverpool city centre after others had forced entry. He then took various items from kiosks in the main entrance and left with them. He received a 12-month detention and was ordered to complete training and to pay court costs.
Detective Inspector Paula Jones said: “We are determined to put anyone before the courts who is suspected of bringing shame to the region over the summer. Many of whom travelled to Merseyside from other areas.
“We continue to review footage and information and will not stop until we’ve put everyone we possibly can before the courts.
“We continue to work through images and footage. Today we have released an appeal for information on new images, of 47 people, that haven’t been seen before.
“Merseyside Police this year have arrested 163 people, charged 115 and sentenced 88 for a total of more than 179 years.
