We can confirm we received a report a teenage boy was assaulted by three pupils in Bebington yesterday, Thursday 1 May.
It was reported at around 3.10pm the 15-year-old victim, who has a disability, was being mocked for his walking by three pupils from the same school, and then was assaulted from behind on Teehey Lane.
The victim suffered a cut to his lip and bruises and was left distressed by the incident.
Officers are working with the school, Co-op Academy, to identify the suspects responsible, and safeguarding measures are in place.
Local Policing Inspector Nicola Hughes said: “The victim was left shaken, and we are taking this incident very seriously as no one should be subjected to, or tolerate, such abhorrent and senseless behaviour.
“We are liaising with the school to ensure appropriate action is taken with the perpetrators and they understand the impact it has had on the victim, and their behaviour is totally unacceptable and won’t tolerated.”
