Officers have arrested a 29-year-old man from Wavertree following the recovery of a loaded handgun at a flat in Wavertree last night (Saturday, 15 February).
Liverpool Local Policing Officers executed a warrant at the flat on Smithdown Road just after 5pm and found loaded Ruger handgun hidden under the bed along with other ammunition. A large quantity of what is believed to be Class A drugs was also recovered at the address.
The 29-year-old man has been taken to a police station where he will be interviewed by detectives.
Detective Chief Inspector Andy McCourt, said: "The force is committed to tackling those involved in serious organised crime, particularly those involved in gun crime, and has dedicated significant resources into taking weapons and offenders off our streets.
"This is a significant recovery of an extremely dangerous weapon and as a result our streets are safer today.”
