Detectives are appealing for information following a house burglary in Bromborough earlier this month.
We received a report that on Friday 14 February between 5.50pm and 6.10pm, a house on Cunningham Drive was broken into and damage caused to the back door while the occupants were not at home.
The burglars stole a large quantity of jewellery of great sentimental value.
An investigation is underway including forensic examination of the scene and CCTV and doorbell footage has been obtained.
Detective Constable Jennifer Davies from the Burglary Team (Operation Castle) said: “Naturally the occupants are very shocked to have their home broken into and to have had family heirlooms stolen which are of huge sentimental value.
“Burglaries can have a massive impact on the people affected as they have had their home invaded which is an awful experience to go through and can often have a massive and long-lasting impact on victims.
“I would urge anyone who saw someone acting suspiciously on Cunningham Drive at around that time to please contact us.”
Detective Constable Davies added: “The jewellery includes several pairs of gold earrings including some with diamonds, ruby, opal and sapphire, gold pendants, rings and bracelets. I also appeal to anyone who knows the whereabouts of the gold jewellery or seen them advertised for sale to please contact us.
“I would also ask people who were in the area to check their dashcam, CCTV or doorbell footage to see if they may have captured something which may be vital to the investigation.
“We have a dedicated portal where people can send CCTV, smart doorbell or dashcam footage of suspicious activity in their area but don’t know if it is linked to a specific offence. It can be uploaded here: https://unitedkingdom1cpp-portal.digital-policing.co.uk/merseyside/appeal/castle
“I urge residents to take a look at the link below which provides advice about the different ways you can make your homes unattractive targets for would-be criminals. Advice is available on our website for locks, cameras and other measures to bring greater security and peace of mind.”
