We have arrested an eighth man in connection with a fight in Kensington last night, Wednesday 27 February.
Just after 10pm, a number of reports were received that there was a group of men fighting in the street at the junction of Holt Road and Edge Lane, and one of the men was believed to have a knife.
At this stage of the inquiry it appears that a group of men had attacked a 31-year-old man, who suffered a stab wound to his leg. He was taken to hospital. His condition is not life threatening.
Seven men, aged between 19 and 31, were arrested last night.
An eighth man, aged 31 and from Kensington, was arrested late last night on suspicion of affray and section 18 wounding with intent.
All eight men remain in custody.
Detective Inspector Natalie Charlesworth said: “This investigation continues at pace and extensive enquiries are being carried out by officers in the area today, including house-to-house, CCTV and forensics.
“We understand the concern caused by violence and weapons being carried on the streets. We’re determined to find all of those responsible and put them before the courts, and take any dangerous weapons out of circulation.
“The incident was at a busy junction and as such we believe that there will be witnesses who potentially hold vital information, either through what they have seen, or images and footages on CCTV, dashcam or doorbell cameras. I’d urge anyone passing the junction at around 10pm to check any devices as a matter of urgency.”
