A man has been arrested following an attempted burglary in Mossley Hill yesterday, Tuesday 5 February.
Just after 4pm we received a report that a man was acting suspiciously along Briardale Road and attempting to open car and house doors.
Officers attended and detained a suspect, and following a search found a number of items in his possession including a Nikon camera, Toyota car key, two mobile phone, jewellery and two pairs of earbuds.
Enquiries were carried out and he was identified as being a suspect in connection with other incidences on Nicander Road and Nethersdale Road in Wavertree.
A 58-year-old man from Wavertree was arrested on suspicion of two counts of attempted burglary with intent to steal and vehicle interference. He is still in police custody for questioning.
Detective Inspector Mike Fletcher said: “This crime can have a profound effect on the lives of victims, from the shock and unease felt by having somebody invade your home, the inconvenience of losing property, through to the often severe long-term psychological impacts.
“I urge residents to take a look at link below which provides advice at the different ways you can make your homes unattractive targets for would-be criminals. I would like to advise everyone to please keep expensive items in a safe place and out of sight. Advice is available on our website for locks, cameras and other measures to bring greater security and peace of mind.”
Detective Inspector Fletcher added: “We encourage people to come forward if you know anything about suspected burglary and the sale of stolen goods where you are. We’ll act on all information provided.
“Burglary offences have decreased year on year across Merseyside thanks largely to Operation Castle, an operation targeted at reducing burglaries, bringing offenders to justice, and ultimately sparing residents the anguish of being a victim of burglary.”
