We have arrested a man on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class A and B drugs and attempting to bring/throw/convey a prohibited article into prison.
At around 12.20am today, Monday 24 February, a Seat Alhambra, believed to be linked to prison throwovers, was seen in the area of Edge Lane Drive. The car was later seen near HMP Liverpool before stopping on Warbreck Moor with a second vehicle, a white Volvo V40.
Both vehicles then headed off in convoy towards Melling Road. Patrols located both cars on Spencer’s Lane together with a private hire taxi. The rear seat passenger of the taxi made off from the scene prior to patrols arriving.
A search was carried out and a package was recovered containing a quantity of cannabis, mobile phones and a large drone and the driver of the Volvo was arrested.
Enquiries remain ongoing.

Matrix disruption Inspector Ian Peacock said: “Merseyside Police will continue to seek proactive ways to combat the illegal use of drones through technology and information from communities.
“There have been arrests in the past in relation to the use of drones within the vicinity of prisons, and we have retrieved goods that have been dropped into the prison grounds.
“We continue to work in partnership with HM Prison Service to keep the prison community and those in the wider community of Merseyside safe, and urge anyone with information on those operating drones in this way to contact police."
If you see a drone you suspect is being used to transport contraband into a prison in Merseyside please call 999. If you have information on anyone who owns a drone for this purpose, DM @MerPolCC or call @CrimestoppersUK on 0800 555 111.
