Two arrests and cannabis and e-bikes seized after stabbing in Crosby

We have arrested two men following a stabbing in Crosby on Monday (24 February) and continue to appeal for information from the public.

Just after 6pm, officers were called to Cambridge Road to reports that a 15-year-old male had been stabbed.
 
The victim was taken to hospital for treatment to injuries to his leg, buttock, arm and chest where his condition is described as serious but stable.

The victim and offenders were reported to have been using electric bikes, and the victim’s bike was collected by unknown people before the arrival of police.

Officers deployed to identify any electric bikes that may have been involved in the incident then spotted a Sur-ron bike being pushed into a property in Seaforth.

The officers entered and seized two Sur-ron bikes and a quantity of cannabis.

A 21-year-old man from Seaforth was arrested on suspicion of Section 18 wounding with intent, possession with intent to supply cannabis, two offences of theft of a motor vehicle and assisting an offender. He has been conditionally bailed.

A 44-year-old man from Seaforth was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply cannabis, assisting an offender and acquiring/using/possessing criminal property. He has been released under investigation. 

Detective Inspector Edward Barr said: "The investigation into this incident is progressing well, and we have made significant arrests and seizures as our enquiries continue.

“We understand the worry that news of a 15-year-old being stabbed will bring to the community, and we have deployed additional high visibility patrols in the area.

“We believe the victim, who was on a bike, was attacked near to Crosby Leisure Centre on Mariners Road by two other males on electric bikes. He managed to escape from them on an electric bike himself but collided with a car on Cambridge Road. 

“The driver of the car stopped to help and phoned the emergency services. 

"We have carried out forensic examinations at the scene and house-to-house inquiries and continue to examine CCTV footage in a bid to establish the circumstances leading up to the incident.

"The area around Crosby baths will have been busy around 6pm and we continue to urge anyone who saw any part of this incident to come forward.

“I would also appeal to drivers who may have dashcam footage to get in touch with us so we can find those responsible and put them before the courts."

Det Insp Edward Barr added: “There is no place for knives in our communities and we will always seek to take positive action when we have information about people are storing, carrying or using weapons. I would urge anyone with information to get in touch so we can act on community intelligence or call Crimestoppers anonymously.”
