Two men have been arrested and 11 suspected stolen scrambler and quad bikes found following proactive work by officers in Birkenhead.
At around 9pm on Wednesday 12 February, Matrix officers on patrol on Marshall Street spotted a man pushing an off-road bike and when questioned he gave conflicting accounts about who owned it.
A 21-year-old man from Birkenhead was arrested on suspicion of handling stolen goods and the bike has been seized.
While officers were still on Marshall Street, they noticed another man leave an industrial unit that they suspected was being used to store more stolen bikes. When he saw officers, the man tried to run away but was detained.
A 37-year-old man from Woodchurch was arrested on suspicion of handling stolen goods. Both men remain in police custody and will be questioned by officers.
Following a search of the unit, a further ten scrambler bikes and quad bikes were found.
Detective Inspector Andy Schofield said: “Thanks to the proactive work of officers, we have been able to arrest two men and find a large number of suspected stolen scrambler and quad bikes.
"We proactively respond to all intelligence about stolen vehicles, and I encourage anyone with information to let us know so we can take positive action.
"Each and every seizure like this one prevents further risk on the roads.
