We are appealing for witnesses following a fatal collision in St Helens earlier today, Wednesday 5 February.
We were contacted at just before 11.30am to reports a motorbike had been in collision with a Vauxhall Meriva on Fleet Lane, on Fleet Lane industrial estate.
The motorcyclist – a 45-year-old man - suffered serious injuries and was sadly pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the car stopped.
A cordon remains in place while investigation work is being carried out and motorists are advised to avoid the road.
We are appealing for anyone who witnessed the collision to please get in touch and officers are in the early stages of the investigation, which will include CCTV and witness inquiries.
Detective Sergeant Andy Roper said: “First and foremost, our thoughts and condolences are with this man’s family and we have specially trained officers supporting them.
“This was a tragic incident and we would like to speak to anyone who witnessed this collision or was passing by at the time and may have captured anything on dashcam or other devices.
“Road closures are currently in place as officers carry out their enquiries and motorists are advised to find an alternative route.”
