We are appealing for information following a fatal collision in Wallasey earlier this afternoon.
At around 2.40pm on Friday 17 January, it was reported that a motorbike had been involved in a collision with a van on Dock Road, near its junction with Limekiln Lane.
Emergency services attended the scene and the motorcyclist – a 25-year-old man – was taken to hospital with serious injuries. He was sadly pronounced deceased at hospital.
The driver of the van stopped at the scene.
A road closure remains in place in both directions on Dock Road and motorists are advised to avoid the area.
We are appealing for anyone who witnessed the collision to please get in touch and officers are in the early stages of the investigation, which will include CCTV and witness inquiries.
Chief Inspector Phil Thompson said: “First and foremost, our thoughts and condolences are with victim’s family at this tragic time and we have specially trained officers supporting them.
“We are in the very early stages of investigating this incident and would appeal to anyone who witnessed the collision to please get in touch.
“If you were driving through the area at the time of the incident, please review your dashcam to see if you captured anything significant that could help our inquiries.
“Road closures will remain in place this evening so please avoid the area and updates will be issued when the road is reopened.”
Anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to contact our Matrix Serious Collision Investigation Unit on (0151) 777 5747, email [email protected], or DM @MerPolCC with log number 529 of 17th January.
