We are releasing CCTV images and appealing for witnesses and footage of a robbery which occurred at secure student accommodation.
At around 11pm on Saturday 18 January two men illegally entered the student grounds at Atlantic Point, Naylor Street, Liverpool. Two men are alleged to have used bolt cutters to remove locks from two bikes. The suspects then make their way to the main gates and are unsuccessful in opening them.
One suspect climbed the gate while the other handed him the bikes which were dropped on the other side. During this a safety team member tried to detain the suspects who used the bolt cutters to try and hit him, one of the suspects then threatened to stab him. The safety team member let go of the suspects and they made off towards Scotland Road.
Detective Inspector Christopher Carlin said: “This is a serious crime where the suspects have used violence to get away. They have left the safety team member, who was simply doing his job, traumatised and shaken by their actions.
“Our enquiries are ongoing so I’d like to appeal to anyone who has yet to come forward to do so, as any information, images or footage could be extremely useful to this investigation.
“The suspects left a lock at the scene which is now with forensics to help us identify them.
“We also encourage owners mark and register their bikes at the Bike Register here: www.bikeregister.com to provide additional reassurance in the event of theft.”
