Two males have been arrested following a report of assault in Aigburth in the early hours of this morning, Monday 13 January.
At around 3.30am officers were called to a report of an altercation on Normanton Avenue involving around five people.
Two people, a woman and a man, were being treated in hospital for serious injuries which are not life threatening.
Two males aged 17 and 36 years from Aigburth, have been arrested on suspicion of Section 18 assault. They are in police custody to be questioned.
The investigation is still in early stages with a police cordon is in place in the surrounding area while we carry out enquiries.
Detective Inspector Mike Fletcher said: “Although two arrests have been made, I would urge anyone who was in the vicinity who witnessed the incident to please contact us – as you may have vital information that could help with our enquiries.”
