We have charged a man and woman with murder following the death of a baby boy who had been found unresponsive at a house in Seacombe on Sunday (24 November).
At about midday on Sunday, we were called to a property on Percy Road to reports of concern for the child.
The infant was taken to hospital to be assessed where injuries were found to his body.
He received treatment in hospital but despite the efforts of medical professionals, was sadly pronounced deceased five days later, on Friday 29 November.
His parents, Klevi Pirjani, 36 years, and Nivalda Santos Pirjani, 34 years, both of Percy Road, Seacombe were initially arrested and charged with causing grievous bodily harm and Section 18 wounding with intent.
Following the boy’s death, they have now been charged in custody with murder and causing or allowing the death of a child.
They have been further remanded in custody to appear at Liverpool Magistrates Court on Monday 27 January.
