We have arrested a man and seized cannabis, cash and other items following a stop search in Rainhill on Saturday 26 January.
At around 9pm, officers detained a male on Warrington Road after a strong smell of cannabis was detected. He was detained on suspicion of possession of cannabis.
Following the search of a nearby address, cannabis and around £7,000 in cash were seized (pictured), in addition to large quantities of codeine and other paraphernalia.
An 18-year-old man from Rainhill was arrested on suspicion of Possession with intent to supply cannabis; Possession of cannabis; and Possession of criminal property. He has been released under investigation pending further enquiries.
Detective Inspector Jimmy Rotheram said: “This swift response has identified and removed from circulation a large quantity of controlled drugs from our community, and enquiries are ongoing to establish any wider links to organised crime.
“The supply of drugs brings harm to our streets in many ways, from the violent crime drug suppliers often use, in order to enforce their activities and settle disputes.
“We are determined to do all in our powers to make those communities affected safer places to live, work and visit, so come forward with any information and we will do the rest.”
