We have arrested a man on suspicion of robbery after an elderly woman from Stockbridge Village was assaulted in her own home.
At some point between 7-9am on Thursday 30 January, an unknown man entered the home of a woman aged in her 80s and threw her on the floor.
The intruder then stole a quantity of cash before fleeing the property, which is on Spruce Grove.
The victim suffered injuries to her arms, elbow and nose and was also left extremely shaken by the incident.
An investigation is ongoing and a 56-year-old man from Stockbridge Village has been arrested on suspicion of robbery. He was bailed on this matter but recalled to prison for breaching his conditions with regards to a previous offence.
Detective Inspector Kev O’Rourke said: “Although we have made an arrest, we are still urging anyone with information about this appalling incident to come forward as the investigation is ongoing.
“We’re particularly keen to speak to anyone who lives in the vicinity of Spruce Grove and saw anyone acting suspiciously at around 7am on Thursday 30 January. We’d be grateful if those living in the area check CCTV, dashcam or doorbell devices, as they may hold vital evidence to find the person responsible and remove him from the community.
“Incidents such as this are thankfully very rare, and we’re determined to do all we can to find to get justice for this woman.”
