Detectives investigating a reported child sex offence have charged a man from Islington.
On Tuesday 28 January it was reported that a man had engaged in sexual activity with a 15-year-old girl.
Esmail Berhat, 20 years, of Trinity Walk in Islington has been charged with engaging in sexual activity with a girl 13 to 15.
Berhat was remanded in police custody to appear at Liverpool Magistrates Court today, Thursday 30 January.
Detective Inspector Rachael Ostick of the Child & Criminal Sexual Exploitation Team said: “We urge anyone who is a victim of any form sexual abuse to please report this to police, as we have specially trained officers who will treat you with sensitivity and compassion.
“We take all such reports extremely seriously, and in addition, work with partner organisations such as Victim care Support Service and RASA who are there to support victims of this crime.”
