Officers have arrested three men following the discovery of suspected drugs and an electric bike in Stoneycroft yesterday, Monday 3 February.
At around 11.50pm, officers stopped a Peugeot van on Queens Drive and noticed a pungent smell of cannabis coming from the vehicle.
Following a search of the vehicle, officers found four pots containing cannabis and a high-powered electric bike which was suspected to be stolen.
Three men aged 42, 26 and 19 years from Greater Manchester were arrested on suspicion of Possession of a controlled Class B drug, cannabis./cannabis resin, and acquire/use /possess criminal property. They are still in police custody to be questioned.
Detective Inspector Mike Fletcher said: “Thanks to proactive policing work drugs have been removed from our streets which cause harm in our communities.
“Serious organised crime gangs are massive blight to our communities where drugs are closely linked to serious violence, involving firearm and knife crime.
“Criminals involved in organised crime have no thought for anyone other than themselves, and their criminal intent and greed.
“Stop searches, warrants, land searches and arrests take place all year round, and in many instances it is thanks to the public who tell us where there are issues in the community. If you see suspected drug dealing or criminality in your area let us know and we will take action.”
