We have arrested a 16-year-old male following a CCTV appeal after a report a 14-year-old boy was robbed of a mobile phone in Liverpool city centre in January.
At around 2pm on Sunday 19 January the teenager was on the fifth floor of the John Lewis Q Park car park on Liver Street near the lifts when a group of around six males approached him.
The offenders demanded he hand over his possessions including his mobile phone, before making off on foot.
A 16-year-old male from Liverpool has been arrested on suspicion of robbery. He was taken into custody to be interviewed and has been bailed pending further enquiries.
We are currently appealing for help in identifying two more males we have CCTV images of.
We believe the two males pictured could have information to assist our inquiries. If you recognise them, or you recognise yourself in this image, please get in touch.
Detective Inspector Christopher Carlin said: “This was a shocking incident that left the young teenage victim traumatised.
“Robbery is a terrifying offence that can have a lasting impact on victims and we take such crimes extremely seriously.
“While we have seen a 15% reduction in personal robberies in 2024 compared with 2023, every single robbery represents a person left in fear, deprived of possessions and sometimes even physically harmed
“This arrest and continued appeal shows our commitment to tackle robberies anti-social behaviour. We want to ensure communities, people who live, visit and work in Liverpool feel safe.”
