We are continuing to appeal for information following a disturbance in Toxteth last night, Tuesday 4 March.
We were contacted at just before 9pm following reports two men had been assaulted in Granby Street.
A 24-year-old man suffered a stab wound to the chest and remains in hospital in a serious but stable condition. A second man, aged 48, suffered a laceration to his face and is in a stable condition in hospital.
An investigation is underway and witness, CCTV and forensic enquiries are being carried out in the local area.
Road closures remain in place to allow for investigative work to be carried out.
Detective Inspector Steve Street said: “We are examining a number of lines of enquiry and speaking to potential witnesses and viewing CCTV to establish what has taken place.
“We would continue to ask anyone who was in the area of Granby Street who saw or heard anything or believes they captured something significant on their dashcam, mobile phone or doorbell camera to contact us as a matter of urgency.
“We understand how concerning incidents such as this are for people living and working in the local community. We will have a visible police presence in the Toxteth area and I would encourage anyone with any concerns to speak to officers.
“I would also ask people to avoid speculating, particularly on social media, on what has happened and come forward if you have information which could assist our investigation.”
Anyone with information is asked to DM @MerPolCC or call 101. Information can also be passed on anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 quoting reference 2500018573.
