We have arrested four people on suspicion of Class A drugs offences after a man was detained in St Helens yesterday, Wednesday 5 March.
At around 5pm plainclothes officers were on patrol in the area of Alexandra Drive when they spotted two males acting suspiciously.
Both males were detained and following a search a quantity of cannabis and cash was recovered.
A 24-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession of a Class B drug with intent to supply.
Following the arrest a search was carried out of a property in St Helens. During this search officers recovered a large amount of suspected cannabis, heroin and crack cocaine which had been stored under the floorboards on the upstairs landing, as well as scales, snap bags, a large quantity of money and a mobile phone.
The 24-year-old man was further arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to Supply Class A drugs and possession of criminal property.
A further three people – a 43-year-old man, a 24-year-old man and a 22-year-old man - who were present in the property, were also arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs and Class B drugs and possession of criminal property.
All four remain in custody while enquiries continue.
St Helens Neighbourhood Chief Inspector Jon Smith said: “This is a great example of officers trusting their instincts when they see suspicious behaviour.
“Drug dealing causes devastation and can have a long-lasting impact on our communities and the people who live and bring up their families here.
“We remain committed to pursuing those who choose to deal drugs and disrupting their activity and we would always encourage anyone who has information about drug dealing or criminality in their community to contact us so we can take action.”
