We are this evening, Tuesday 4 March, in the Toxteth area following reports of a large-scale disturbance.
We were contacted at just before 9pm following reports two males had been assaulted in the area of Granby Street. One man in his 20s received a stab wound to the chest and a second man, in his 40s, a laceration to his face.
Both are currently receiving treatment in hospital.
An investigation is underway and witness, CCTV and forensic enquiries are being carried out in the local area.
There are also road closures in place to allow for investigative work to be carried out.
Detective Inspector Mike Fletcher said: “Enquiries are ongoing to establish what has taken place this evening.
“We know there was a disturbance around the Granby Street area and as a result two men have suffered injuries for which they are receiving hospital treatment.
“We are speaking to people at the scene and viewing CCTV.
“We would ask anyone who was in the area of Granby Street who saw or heard anything or believes they captured something significant on their dashcam, mobile phone or doorbell camera to contact us as a matter of urgency.
“Merseyside Police remains committed to combatting knife crime and detaining offenders and we would ask that people assist us by coming forward and telling us what they know.”
Anyone with information is asked to DM @MerPolCC or call 101. Information can also be passed on anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 quoting log 981 of 4 March.
