Two people have been arrested after drugs were found following a stop search in Norris Green yesterday evening, Monday 3 March.
Officers were on patrol when they stopped a van on Scargreen Avenue and the driver was then seen discarding something from his waistband.
Following a search they found money, drugs paraphernalia and mobile phones inside the van and the suspect had a quantity of brown powder in his underwear (suspected heroin). Officers conducted a roadside drugs test and the man tested positive for cocaine.
The driver, a 38-year-old man from Liverpool, was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs, drug driving, acquire/use/possession of criminal property and obstructing an officer in exercise of a search a person/vehicle. He has been released on conditional bail pending further enquiries.
A further search was carried out at a house in Norris Green and officers found a quantity of suspected controlled drugs and money inside the premises.
A 39-year-old woman from Liverpool was arrested suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs. She has been released under investigation.
Detective Inspector Chris Carlin said: “Thanks to proactive policing work a significant amount of drugs have been removed from our streets which cause harm in our communities.
“We urge people to continue coming forward with information and intelligence by either contacting us or anonymously through Crimestoppers so we can act.
“Stop searches, warrants, land searches and arrests take place all year round, and in many instances it is thanks to the public who tell us where there are issues in the community.
“If you have see suspected drug dealing or criminality in your area let us know and we will take action.”
