Detective Inspector Chris Carlin said: "These two arrests were part of our proactive work to disrupt any suspected criminal activity. Drug dealing is a blight on our community, causes misery to families and often involves the exploitation of children. We are relentless in pursuing those involved in drug dealing and serious and organised criminality in Merseyside.
“We are now forensically testing the firearm to see if it is linked to any incidents.
“Thankfully this firearm has been safely recovered and it can no longer be used to cause fear or harm in our community.”
