Appeal for witnesses following serious road traffic collision in Birkenhead

We are appealing for information following a serious road traffic collision in Birkenhead yesterday afternoon, Wednesday 9th November, which involved a HGV and a pedestrian.
At around 2.15pm, we received a report that a HGV had been involved in a collision with a 68-year-old man on New Chester Road.
The man was taken to hospital with multiple injuries, including a serious head injury, and he is currently in a serious condition.
The driver of the HGV stopped at the scene and is assisting with enquiries.
We are appealing for any witnesses, CCTV and dash camera footage which may assist the investigation.
Detective Sergeant Andy Roper from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit said: "If you witnessed this collision, or were passing and may have captured any dashcam footage, please come forward so we can understand the circumstances of what took place.”
