An investigation is underway following reports a female was injured in Dovecot this evening, Sunday, 24 November.
We were called at around 7.30pm following reports that shots had been fired at a VW car which was parked in Aldwark Road. The woman and a four-year-old girl were in the car at the time, the girl was not injured during the incident.
The female has been taken to hospital where the injury is believed to be minor.
There are road closures in place on Aldwark Road and Grovehurst Avenue.
An investigation is underway and house-to-house and CCTV enquiries are being carried out in the local area.
Detective Chief Inspector Mark Baker said: “This investigation is in its very early stages and enquiries are being carried out to establish exactly what has taken place.
“I would appeal to anyone who was in the vicinity of Aldwark Road this evening who saw anyone or anything suspicious or captured anything on dash-cam footage to contact us as they may be able to assist with the investigation.
“Firearms have no place on the streets of Merseyside and we are committed to finding the people responsible for using them and bringing them to justice.”
