We can confirm that the body found in the River Mersey in Otterspool on Thursday, 10 October, is sadly that of missing man Thomas Cook.
Thomas, 76, went missing from New Brighton on his way back to Kensington on Monday, 7 October.
There is nothing to suggest there is anything suspicious surrounding his death and the matter has now been referred to the coroner.
The family have been informed.
