Officers investigating violent disorder at the Birkenhead Pyramids area (Salisbury Street) have arrested a 15-year-old male from Birkenhead on suspicion of violent disorder.
CCTV footage of the disorder, which happened at about 10.50am yesterday (Wednesday, 12 September) showed a male armed with a knife and caused some concern for members of the public in the area.
Inspector Chris Lucan-Pratt, said: "This disturbance was really concerning for shoppers who witnessed it and we understand wholeheartedly the impact it has had on the wider community. I would like to reassure members of the public that we will not tolerate this type of criminality in our communities and have increased patrols in the area. A Section 60 order was put in place between 4.20pm and 2pm.
"The mobile police station was on the Woodlands this morning and will be back there tomorrow (Friday, 13 September) and is currently at ASDA on Grange Road and will be there until 4pm today."
"I would appeal to anyone who may have information which could help us find those responsible to contact us."
