An investigation is underway and Crime Scene Investigators are carrying out forensic examinations following an incident in Liverpool this evening (Thursday, 25 November), which resulted in a girl being stabbed.
Officers were called at approximately 8.39pm to reports of a stabbing. It is believed that the victim was with friends on Church Alley off Church Street (by Marks and Spencer) and that there was a verbal argument with a group of boys, one of whom is believed to have assaulted the victim. The group of boys then ran off.
The victim has been taken to hospital where she is being treated, her condition is described as critical. Her family have been informed and are with her at hospital.
A police cordon has been put in place on Church Street and Church Alley whilst forensic examinations are carried out and we would ask members of the public for their understanding and patience whilst our investigations are being carried out.
Anyone who witnessed the incident, or who has information which could help us with our inquiries, is asked to DM @MerPolCC, message ‘Merseyside Police Contact Centre on Facebook’ or @CrimestoppersUK on 0800 555 111 with reference 0899 of 25 November.
